Our Panel

Come ready to listen and then ask questions.  These panelists will have the answers and insights into what is hot in craft beer today.  We have local breweries to discuss trends in styles of beer and how to compete in today's increasingly competitive market.  We have city and county leaders.

Richard Fawal

DC Beer:  Richard Fawal is a 30-year veteran of political, policy, and business communications and founder of Junto Media, producing podcasts for individuals, businesses, and non-profits.

A homebrewer and craft beer lover, Richard began podcasting about breweries in 2017. In January 2019, Junto Media took over publishing responsibilities for DCBeer.com, a beer blog founded in 2009 to help Washingtonians find the best beer available in bars and restaurants.

Nate Todd

Brewer: Nate is the Manager/Brewer of Backshore Brewing Company located on the Boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland.  He has been in the service industry for over 25 years and with Backshore Brewing since it was created in 2012. He has done, and currently does, all jobs that are needed on a daily basis, and has been the Manager of the brewery since 2015 as well as  assistant brewer for last 4 years. ​

Rick Meehan

Mayor:  Mayor of Ocean City, Rick Meehan is one of the region's earliest proponents of craft beer.  He understands the importance of breweries and craft beer to our economy.  He is also a strong proponent of craft beer related tourism, particularly in Ocean City!

Tom Knorr:

Co-owner of EVO Craft Brewing: Tom Knorr and his brother, John, started EVOlution craft brewing in Salisbury, Maryland.  Well known for their Lot 3 IPA, Evo is located in an old ice house in downtown Salisbury, Maryland

Bryan Brushmiller

Brewer: Burley Oak Brewey has been located in the town of Berlin Md since 2011. Their goal is to produce distinctive beers whose quality is unsurpassed using new and traditional brewing methods.

Big Oyster Brewery

Brewer: Big Oyster Brewery opened in Lewes Delaware in 2015.  They brew craft beer by the people, for the people.  They were named 2018's fastest growing independent craft brewery in America by the Brewer's Association. 

Alyssa Tognetti

Blogger: Alyssa Tognetti is a blogger for Beauty loves Booze, "where makeup and cocktails meet."  She loves beauty, booze, working out and finding new places in NYC, Westchester and CT. 

Eric Camper

Brewer: Eric Camper from Tall Tales will be joining us.  As an artisan brewery, Tall Tales are consistently releasing new and rotational beers in addition to their year-round offerings. All their beer is brewed and canned in their Rt 50  facility.  A large part of their commitment to quality is to provide delicious beer in an ecologically responsible manner. To this end, they strive to use sustainable practices throughout all of their operations. 

Kristen Geller 
Kristen is the Tourism Manager for Wicomico County, Maryland, responsible for promoting Wicomico County as a destination for individuals and groups. Wicomico County is located in the southeastern part of Maryland, on the  Delmarva Peninsula, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay, and is home to a growing number of craft beer breweries including Evo and Tall Tales. 

Suellen Vickers, Owner

Brewer: 3rd Wave Brewing Co. is the only all female owned brewery in DE and MD. We are all about having fun, making some awesome beers and sharing them with friends new and old. 9-14 beers on tap at all times, including sours and our barrel aged series. Tasting room open everyday, tours and a food truck on the weekends.
